So I took a bit of a break from the internet. Didn’t blog, didn’t tweet, didn’t read much of anything, barely checked my email. Not for any big important reason: mostly we’d been to the library and I’ve been powering through the latest Terry Pratchett (maybe the latest but one, I’m not sure and don’t much care) and a couple of Nero Wolfe novels (which I love) and five Star Wars books in a row.
(Hero used to love the Star Wars novels. I’m pickier than he is, but some of them are quite fun, and I do like exploring the Star Wars universe. The fictional worlds and species and events and how they all interact is just staggering. Also, you occasionally get little tidbits, like the fact that Greedo was not only shot, but then ground up and added to a drink for Jabba the Hutt. Go figure.)
Anyway, I was reading, and when I read I tend to get lost in the book and pay as little attention as possible to other things. I’m better about it now than I used to be (dinner got made and the laundry got folded and so on) but I still got through about a book a day.
But the internet is nice and it’s good to say hi again. At Community Bible Study the ladies were all talking about how our high-data culture is ruining everything, and while I don’t advocate texting constantly during a dinner date, I’m inclined to disagree with them. I like this place. Having the internet makes life less lonely.
Besides, without the internet, how would Hero watch football with Danish commercials? That’s what he’s doing now. I’m not sure why it pleases me so much that the ads are in Danish, but it does.
My Brain and Other Curiosities 
I went through just about all the Star Wars novels in fifth and sixth grade, and then started running out of books at about the same time I got better taste. I still, however, love the Han Solo trilogy to death. The Courtship of Princess Leia also has a special place in my heart.
figures you would have read them :) I think Hero did the same thing, and they’re all still neatly shelved in his parents’ basement. I read Death Star, and now I’m re-reading the Corran Horn books (at least, the ones we have – the first four X-Wing book and I Jedi.) I also poke around on Wookiepedia on a regular basis, as I notice things to look up
